The Coronation of King Charles III and The Queen Consort will take place on the morning of Saturday 6 May 2023.
The ceremony will take place at Westminster Abbey, London, and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Coronation will reflect the monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.
After the ceremony there will be a Coronation Procession to Buckingham Palace where the The King and The Queen Consort, accompanied by members of the Royal Family, will appear on the balcony.
Sunday 7 May 2023 will see a concert at Windsor Castle that will bring global music icons and contemporary stars together in celebration of the historic occasion. The Coronation Choir will perform and iconic locations across the nation will be lit up using projections, drone displays and lasers. A ballot will be held by the BBC for several thousand members of the public to attend.
It will also be a day for the Coronation Big Lunch with street parties and other community led events. Free downloadable resources will be made available online by the Big Lunch team at CoronationBigLunch.com, to help people and communities start their Coronation Big Lunch planning.
Bank Holiday Monday 8 May 2023 will feature the Big Help Out which aims to use volunteering to bring communities together and create a lasting volunteering legacy from the Coronation Weekend.
The official Coronation emblem has been released. Designed by Sir Jony Ive KBE and his creative collective, LoveFrom, the emblem pays tribute to The King’s love of the natural world, unifying the flora of the four nations of the United Kingdom; the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the daffodil of Wales and the shamrock of Northern Ireland. Together, the flowers create the shape of St Edward’s Crown, with which His Majesty The King will be crowned during the Coronation Service. The emblem has been designed using the red, white and blue of the union flag.

The Balmoral style mug is made from genuine bone china, which was first produced by Josiah Spode II in 1810. As manufactured today, it is the strongest and whitest of all pottery bodies, and particularly prized for its attractive translucency. These mugs have been designed by Mike W Goodwin and manufactured by Chown China of Cornwall, which has been a leading designer and manufacturer of Royal Commemoratives for over 40 years.
